Isabel de Villiers stuns again with her latest range and after seeing it, we’re looking forward to winter. The designer has created something for everyone while still staying true to her feminine look. This latest offering however is a testament to her growth as she continues to deliver stunning and great quality clothing.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit Isabel’s studio and can attest to the effort, teamwork and passion that goes into each design. I’ve been a fan ever since I found out she caters for sizes 32-48, a feat very few can do as successfully as she has – this means no one is left out.
Isabel tells us about the inspiration behind the winter 2014 collection and how she keeps things exciting…
1) What inspired this collection?
Our Winter 2014 range is inspired by the book ‘Women of our time – 75 portraits of remarkable women’- Frederick S Voss. It’s a celebration of women who shaped the world we live in today. They were creative, controversial, witty and brave. Women like Billy Holiday, Eleanor Roosevelt and Katherine Hepburn. I designed a range of Winter garments they would wear today to conquer the world.
2) Who do you picture in this collection?
I always picture a wide variety of women wearing Isabel de Villiers. That is the reason behind my size curve being 32 – 48. The Isabel de Villiers Clothing client keeps her chin up, is a strong-willed and big hearted lady, No matter what size or season.
3) You continue to improve and surprise with each collection, how do you keep things fresh and exciting?
It’s very important to tap into what is happening around us concerning Social, Politics, Environmental and Economical issues. I also introduce new fabrics, colours and styles to my client every season to assist her looking and feeling her best.
