#SAFW Designer Q&A – Thembeka Vilakazi

Staying true to her roots, Thembeka Vilakazi will show an African culture and music inspired collection at SA Fashion Week. The range is sure to be a must-see with a twist of the 50s era as well. Thembeka gives us a few enticing hints of what to expect, see for yourself…

1) Tell us more about the Yadah Exclusive Designs label?

It’s a clothing label owned by Thembeka Vilakazi. It was started in 2006. We design classic and timeless ladies wear.

2) What do you have planned for SA fashion week?

Just watch the space, prints and silhouette is my signature.

3) What was the inspiration behind this collection?

Constantly inspired by African cultures and rich music, I  fused this with the 50s era placed in a European setting, to develop my Spring/Summer 2014 Collection. I have integrated elements including African  material and shwe-shwe highlights to encapsulate my vision.
