The name often associated with beautiful couture gowns, Hendrik Vermeulen, has taken his experience and turned it into a ready-to-wear collection. It will be revealed at the Design Indaba and he’s given us a small taste of what to expect.
1) What do you most look forward to during Design Indaba?
We mostly look forward to interacting with the public and experiencing their reaction towards our two new ranges (A/W2014 and S/S2015) from our new label “Simply Vermeulen”.
2) Can you tell us more about what you’ll be showcasing?
Our showcase on Sunday 2 March at 2:30pm will consist of a summer collection of custom printed silk garments entitled: “Reflections of Subterranean Luxury”. Expect an edgy reflection of classic elegance!
Our A/W 2014 Collection will be on sale during the DI at our stand and it will consist of custom dyed cotton skirts, trousers, tops and jackets in bright colours and some accessories (thin belts, large reversible belts, scarves and jewellery). We will also offer a choice of custom dyed 100% Poplin Cotton shirts for men. All our products are Proudly Made in South Africa.
3) What inspired this collection?
This collection is inspired by the magical lustre of natural crystals.
4) In your opinion, what is the importance of an event such as the Design Indaba?
The importance of such an event for us is the visibility it offers a local brand to be recognised.
